More Than Skin Deep (IF - Spooky)

You think that I'm sweet and innocent....

Think again.

I may not be who you think I am.

...just a little proof that the human mind is a bottomless ocean...

  3. What a difference of mood it creates by a change of colour and surroundings! It's great to see both these pictures together, it creates a totally different effect to view them side by side. Great take on the theme too!

  5. Beautiful, Amalia. I like the transformation. Looks like a lot of fun too. I think that everyone has a combination of yin and yang. We have to have balance. Sometimes the negative forces actually helps us survive. Maybe it is the nurse in me but I like to expect the best from everyone.I always think that people are good unless they prove otherwise.I do not like conflicts and will not normally linger in a place or with aperson whose disposition leads me to sadness, hopelessness or just being bitchy. So even though I am very friendly, I remain very close with very few and select people and will only confide in one or two. I don't fool myself into thinking that humans are always good and nice. I have been deceived by selfish and loathsome people who just stay long enought to take what they can from me. I am very generous and very loyal and I have been burned by people who take my love and my money. I also try to be tolerant and wopuld even make friends and love to a certain extent, a Democrat.so if you don't mind I would like to think of you as sweet and nice but will keep in mind that fiery, passionate and intense woman capable of exploding like the Krakatoa! Tsup!

  6. seriously spooky XD XD
Now I know what you mean!!

p/s: the humming birds are real sweet and cute!

  7. I knew it was only your 'persona' that was sweet and beautiful, Amalia... but the Kali lives in every woman, even if she only comes out when we're really, really angry... :-) Beautiful, memorable work as always!

  8. Wow! I think I heard some creepy scary movie music in that post!

  9. Mwahahahahahahahahahaha! Now that is my kinda lady. Sweet on the outside, wicked on the inside. No one ever suspects.......hehehehehehe

This reminds me of the Haunted Mansion ride in Disneyland. You know, where the pretty paintings elongate and then the lights go out and they all turn into creepy, ghoulish portraits. Love it!

  10. Haunting and beautiful, there's a lot of depth to your work, love it.

  11. What a lovely girl.... interesting to see what lies beneath.

  12. ooooo, spooky and beautiful, very cool! Sorry, not much time for visiting tonight, but I'll be back!!!

  13. Hi Amalia :) I love how the blue transforms the atmosphere in the second one. You've put it in just the right places, lovely! xx

  14. Hi everyone!! Hahaa...So glad you like my "spooky" side! Really, I think we all venture into the dark side sometimes. Not a bad thing, as long as you know your way back, right? :))

  15. Juliette Hi! Thanks, so nice to see you here! x

Heather & Lisa, thank you, so sweet!!

Vanilla, isn't it though? I was trying to prove that you can do mostly anything with your art... Hhm, maybe I should try to make her into something else? A fairy, perhaps? :)

  16. Ces, Ces, Ces! Always the voice of wisdom, and a Democrat are you? Hehehe... Well, I will have to think about my political views. That would be hard, with all the clowns we have here! Hahahahaa... And yes, yes! I'm a sleeping Krakatoa, indeed! :D :D

Yeevon, thanks! And you? Are you seriously spooky too? Hehehe... (^_^)

Susan, that is such a nice thing to say, thank you! I think I agree with you. Some women are outspoken enough and maybe less harmful when provoked. But it's the quiet ones I'm worried about...Hahaha!!

  17. Krista, remember that music from the Omen? Aaagghh! Creeeppyyy....!!

Hey Bells! You know how it is... Some people (like me) can be very misleading! So just when you think you're safe... look again!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA..!!!! And I love those haunted mansion rides... especially the vampire coming out of the coffin!!

    ENDZO, welcome! And thank you...

Roberta and Jessie, thanks so much! Isn't it amazing how colors and layers can make a whole different kind of atmosphere? :)

Karen, thanks for stopping by... I know how busy you are! (^_^)

  18. Exquisite! I love your line work!

  19. Yes, no one, except you, knows what's hiding "behind the gate, behind the windows"... Sometimes the appearance lies. I don't want to think how I might be painted in moments of anger, for example... I, myself, feel badly then. The colours you've chosen are very dramatic! I like that the birds remain the same and uninfluenced by the background, which is really spooky!

    ReplyDelete
  20. "Uninfluenced..." - for me the background texture is flowing from the girl, not from the birds and her condition doesn't influence them.

  21. They're both so beautiful...I love the photoshop layers in the second one...

    ReplyDelete
  22. Awesome! I love them both; the innocent one and the not so innocent face. Very beautiful....

  23. Hey Amalia ! My wife says "Hi". This is phenomenal! That is so cool...by changing colors and darkening the eyes ... your innocent portrait becomes a spooky alter ego! Great concept and you certainly gave it the Amalia touch of ellegance! I guess we all have a spooky side :o)...or is that a kooky side?

  24. Oh oh. Well I always liked sweet and innocent you know. As the devil incarnate who loves to corrupt, what fun is there if the work has been done?

Oh if you had seen what I have seen.

Well let's see. I am oody ate or the arty gain! I should take advantage of my lateness by stealing some metaphors hmm.

be back in a mo with a wheelbarrow full :)

  25. Ahh my hands are full, my nose is sharpened! Naso labial cleft? Where else would half a pie end up I ask yhou.

Well you know it's intersting your work. Contrast heightens, doesn't it. The lovely snub noses on your work just make us want to like it. Kids have snubnoses so you don't pick them up and throw them out the window when they complain their marshmellow soup is tool cold. Did you know that?

The second one - "well If you go into the woods today you are sure of a big surprise". I think there is the intimation that there is no teddy bears picnic today.

On my blog ...I enjoyed very much commenting on your work. It's grande to know such great artists such as yourself.

see you from the depths !

  26. On my head? Do you know the aesop fable of the old faithful hound dog who cannot any longer catch the hare (because he is so old) and so his master abuses him?

    That is my head.
Once it could catch the hare. :)

  27. thank you for my blogavversary song

I was singing it in the bus today and the driver let me dribe the bus (first I had to promise to stop singing if he let me drive)

I didn't tell him that my driving glasses were back at the coca cola bottle factory being fixed though.

We had a fun time and he thinks the bus will be fixed up again ready for next week. He has promised to let me drive again and has asked for me to wait for his bus by standing in the middle of the road rather than the curbside where I normally stand.

He is worried that he will miss me and drive past if I stand in the wrong place.

  29. aha spooky alright!! she's gorgeous both ways!!
Oh I LOVE your little hummingbirds too!! Just perfect!!
Hmm.. kinda hard to imagine you ever doubting your work Miss A.!!

  30. I saw these on FB and I just love them. Yes.... I do have a dark side...lol..... a tiny wee one.
Your work is so beautiful, Amalia!!

    ReplyDelete
  31. so many layers in each of us, who are we, who are we perceived as, good questions. I love how you change the colors and a few details add some suggestive words and perspective becomes different. Wonderful art and thoughts, Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  32. We are all layered like your images. The spooky part is when the dark layers are hidden.
Beautiful work, Amalia! She still looks innocent even in her dark image. I do love the layering in your work.

  33. I'm back! (^_^)... Again, to thank you for your generous words...

Juan, E.V. and Momo Luna, thank you for stopping by and leaving such nice comments!

Rossichka, you are such a good, good soul. To be honest, I can't really imagine you being angry at all! But I suppose everyone has those moments... Thank you, my sweet friend. :)

Hi Mr. Jack! Spooky alter ego, eh? Hahaha... you always have the right words for everything, don't you?! Well thank you for saying those nice things about my work, and please say hi to your wife for me! :))

    ReplyDelete
  34. So you are "the devil incarnate who loves to corrupt", Monsieur Finnie? Why am I not surprised? Hehehee... Well, thank you all the same for those kind words. Although maybe I should keep my guards with you, in case it turned out that you're just luring me into the fire pit! :D :D Oh, I do feel sorry for that bus driver, patient as he seemed to be, for having a passenger like you wrecking his bus and maybe his nerves too. Just don't pretend you're actually Keanu Reeves in Speed, otherwise those other passengers may now have something to really pray for... Haha! My salutations to your hare!!!

    Amanda, thanks so much!

Ah, Helen the Bird Queen, I don't think I could ever compete with your birds...they are just gorgeous!! :))

  35. Manon, oh I'm sure you're a lot of fun when that dark side emerges!! Hahaha!! Thank you! :)

Tammie dear, you are always such a wise soul... Thank you! And I agree, there are so many layers in ourselves that sometimes it's hard to show just the right ones. :)

Hi Ann Marie! Oh, you are so right! It's dangerous when the spooky side is hidden... Although I know mine likes to show up every once in a while!
