Blog Today, Gone Tomorrow?

Hello lovelies. So nice to have a fraction of time to stop by and finally write something... You might have wondered why I seem to only post and run these days. Believe me, I hate not being able to spend time here like I used to. This blog was once a gathering place for me and my wonderful blog friends, to chat, to exchange thoughts or just to meet and be merry. Unfortunately, I've noticed more and more art blogs are becoming less active and to be frank, it kind of saddens me. Especially because mine is one of them.

Of course life keeps evolving even for bloggers, not to mention the time we need to focus on work, family and those precious little bits saved only for ourselves. I for one have tried to include running this blog among my top priorities for years, but I think there are times when there's just not enough strength to follow through. But when I read my Reading List to visit my favorite blogs today, it really surprised me that so many of them have not even written anything for weeks and some in months! To be honest, I don't want my blog to be neglected. It would be so sad to see something I've worked so hard to build and kept living all this time to just wither away and die.

So I think this is my very, very late new year's resolution. I should step up and turn on my horse power to bring the life and luster back to this blog. By the pile of deadlines that hunts me down and the huge basket of dirty laundry that screams at me every single day! :)

Thank you, dear friends, for always coming back and sticking around. The blog world is an awesome place because of you.

With love,

  1. Some of us are still out here plodding along with life sometimes being in the fast lane.
I try to blog at least 4 times a month. I do love the blogging community. Summer is almost over and I think a lot of bloggers were just too busy with school being out and maintaining a normal home environment for the kiddos.
Maybe things will step up again, as the holidays are coming upon us.
I love your artwork. You have a sweet style all your own. The personality of each painting shines through...your art captures the very essence of your girls and creatures you paint.

    1. Hi Teresa.

Thank you for the kind words. I think some of us enjoy the community so much that it's become a necessity to keep coming back and blog. I guess I have to try and explore more to find those who still do it wholeheartedly and maybe I'll get some positive vibes from them. :)

  5. I'm so happy to hear you're staying, I was a little worried when I saw the title. I haven't been posting as much as I used to, but this past week have made much more of an effort. My reason for this is that Blogging takes a lot longer than Facebook to do doesn't it, and I'd been flitting on and off Facebook thinking that was enough but I found I was missing the deeper connection we get through blogging. Do you find this?
Anyway, I want to say your drawing is gorgeous as ever and funnily enough I drea a girl and cat in pencil yesterday (I'll post it later), I think my picture looks a lot more evil than yours for some reason! It wasn't intended! Have a lovely weekend Amalia.xx

    1. Haha. That title really did the trick, didn't it? I know exactly what you mean! Blogging is more intense in a way because you get to spill out the real "you". Which is why I miss it so much when I get very little time to spend here...it's like not being able to write in your journal, when you have a lot to say! You're one of the friends that I've grown with over the years, so a big warm thanks to you. XOXO

  6. I'm still here too, plodding away. I think it was hard to keep up with things during the Summer break. Now that school is back in session, I think it'll be easier (especially for those of us facing the cooler weather setting in!) Nice to see you posting again!

    1. Hi Kyra. I think you're right. Many of us still with little ones in the house are bound to make them top priority. So I guess our blogs automatically works along their schedule too. :)

  7. Oh, I think I'm on the neglected blog list :o
I am definitely guilty of letting my blog simmer for too long. So much to do, so little time to do it in. I look up and the day is gone. Love this little girl with the sad eyes. I'm glad you found some time to do something for yourself. (((HUGS))) Amalia!

    1. So lovely to see you, Karen! I have no doubt that you must be super busy at home, so thank you for dropping by. Remember how we used to draw for Illustration Friday every week and others would come and comment? How I missed those days...

  9. Oh, Amalia...you almost gave me a heart attack the other day, when I first saw the title of this post! Glad you are not giving it up! You have interesting and beautiful art and thoughts to share and it would be a pity if you closed your blog. As for me, my works advance so slowly that I seldom publish anything in my blog. However, I do read your and others' blogs religiously. Keep inspiring us to do more and better and receives my thanks and hugs!

    1. LOL. I feel guilty now for writing that title! Thank you for the kind words, Astera. I think it would take a million obstacles for me to actually think about closing my blog. Yes, it's tough, but that's life, right? So glad to know that you keep coming back. ;)

  10. I hope that blogging doesn't decline completely. I love my blog and I love reading other peoples too, it is amazing how it helps you feel connected to people all around the World. With Facebook I don't like the fact that I now have to wade through adverts and "sponsored posts" before I can find the updates I'm interested in.

Hopefully it was because of the Summer holidays, when it's so nice outside you'd much rather be out enjoying it than sat at a computer. :-)
