Sponsor Love ♥ Art in a Touch

A couple of days ago I received a message from one of my friends asking if I had an Instagram account he could follow. I said I don't, and he asked why. I asked him why I should, and he said most people today do, so he just assumed that I would. To that, I could only laugh and told him that he obviously doesn't know me that well. I've never been one of those people who did things just because others did. Some may say that I'm uncool for not keeping up with the popular social hypes, but unless I really need to or find some joy in them, then I tend to just keep walking (which should explain why my Twitter account lasted only for a couple of months. LOL!).

However, to some people, I can see how Instagram is quite an important necessity. Especially to someone like my friend (and sponsor), Geri Centonze. She's an artist, blogger, geek (so she claims to be!) and most of all an iPhoneographer, shooting and manipulating digital images through the touch of her iPhone.

What I love most about her work, is that she uses ordinary daily life images and turn them into amazingly artistic pieces by using various applications in her iPhone. Her abstract works can start from a simple photo of flowers to something as plain as a lock. Definitely things you'd least expect to be the base form of an artwork! So if you're a curious cat like my friend Geri, I'm sure you will love spending time at her blog, iArt Chronicles, which is dedicated to this ever evolving form of art. Be sure to check it out!

And here are some works of other fantastic iPhoneographers, recommended by Geri...

So the next time you see something that catch your eye, don't hesitate to press the camera button on your mobile phone...it might just end up as a masterpiece! :)

Happy photo hunting, everyone!

  1. Yes, I agree with your take on social hypes. It drives me nuts that just 15 years ago we had none of this stuff. How did we manage?? The computer hasn't made our lives easier as promised, but more complicated.

I had a conversation with a 20-something the other day and tried to explain how all this technological change will affect him when he's older, too. But he said no way, that will never happen to me. So I said just wait, in 40 years you'll be sitting around and all grumpy because you never see your grandchildren; they will be too busy time traveling. That actually made him pause. heh heh -It's all subjective.

    1. Haha! Good one, Ted! Time traveling sounds cool! I know, sometimes I wonder what it would be like now if suddenly we were deprived of our precious technology. My kids go nuts when they can't get their hands on a computer. I recall only having ordinary toys to play with as a kid and I had a blast each time. :)

  2. Thanks for the feature Amalia - I appreciate you showcasing my work. For me the art form itself is the passion and Instagram right now is just a format for sharing work and learning from other iPhoneographers. Recently in California there was an art show dedicated to mobile art. It's slowly becoming a recognized art form.

    Big hugs, ♥ Gero

    1. You're welcome, Geri. I think it's great that you are pursuing your passion for this "new" form of art. I find it fascinating that art keeps evolving into so many endless possibilities. Keep on, my friend! :)

  5. I'm like you, Amalia. To have an Instagram account, don't you need an iPhone? My cell dosen't have internet or a touch screen...I guess that puts me in the dark ages....haha!
I visit Pinterest from time to time, but don't have any boards....other than that, I'm a hermit creating away and blogging when I can :)

Thank goodness there are people like Geri who can open our eyes to what we're missing....just so we can keep our options open!
She just happens to be really sweet, too...
