Exercising Imperfection

Wow. I can't believe almost a week has gone by without a single post from me. No, no, I haven't turned to vapor and disappeared into thin air. Just been drowning myself in work, still trying to figure out how to make time expand a little and maybe spare an extra hour or two? :) To make things more difficult, sometimes I could be so demanding and expect too much from myself. Yeah, well. Seeking perfection is a self inflicted pain, that's what I always say to myself. Why? Well probably because I'm a hopeless perfectionist. I could go back to my "finished" work and declare that it isn't. Always more details to be added, more shadings to be refined. Maybe that sounds familiar to some of you?

Well, drawing these girls was an exercise for me. A little encouragement to enjoy imperfection and a chance to tell myself that sometimes it's best to leave things just the way they are. :)

Have a gorgeous day, everyone. Don't forget to take a break and put your feet up!

OXOX,

PS: I have something very special up my sleeve and will share it with you soon. Be sure to comeback and check it out! :)

  1. Dearest Amalaia, maybe these drawings are imperfect for your eyes of an artist, but for me - one of your audience, they are gorgeous! They seem to have been drawn "in one breath", as if without interruption and not moving the pensils away from the paper - so light is the feeling when I look at them! I can feel the breeze, the scent of the apple, I can even imagine some tender tunes in the air...
Thanks for the delight!:) I'm so glad you find time in your busy day to draw... Have a cosy weekend - all the family!xx

  4. I am overdue for my eye exam. I thought I'd make an appointment next month but I may do it sooner for I have been scanning these images with my eyes and I cannot find one imperfection. Maybe we are using different dictionaries? Are you crazy girl! These are BEAUTIFUL, not imperfect!. Tsup!

  10. Lovely! I can relate to the perfectionism, but things are often more interesting/better when they're a little less perfect because then we can see the hand of the artist.

  11. What is perfection? These look gentle and beautiful and if they were to change they would still be perfect but maybe have different descriptions? I think it all depends on our moods at the time of drawing and we all know how much they can change. :)
