Dolls for the Whimsical Hearts

When I was little I had a box full of Barbie dolls. Something which I'm reluctant to admit as a grown up, if I may so myself. One thing I remember, though, I always had the urge to give my Barbie a "makeover" everytime I get a new one. Be it a scraggly haircut, a black marker hair dye, an unfortunate big red lip, or a disasterous pair of smokey panda eyes. Poor things, they had no idea what they had gotten themselves into. :)

Anyway, now all grown up, I get gooey eyed everytime I spot a strange and whimsical looking art doll. Seriously, if I had my way I would fill up my cabinets full of them! Here are some I found online, see if you feel the same way...

I love how eerily they seem to stare at us and I'll bet they look even more beautiful in person! Now, how could you not appreciate the time and effort put into creating these pieces of art, right? So it's no surprise that some of these dolls could burn a hole in your pocket. But of course, worth every penny. :)

Well, I'll leave you to more browsing. Each image leads to their links by only a click away!

Happy Tuesday! ♥

  5. Me too! I used to make them when I was young but I don't have the inclination any more, I'd rather draw them! These are lovely. :)

  7. I love dolls too, I have gone a bit mad with them just lately. There is this amazing Dutch artist who makes dolls and bears. I have just written about her on my blog. She is called Marijke van Ooijen.
Thank you for showing this gorgeous collection I am now hopping over to the dollmakers' blogs.

  10. Amalia, I too had several Barbie dolls with make overs. Like you I also dyed their hair using ink or whatever else I could and haircuts! I also used to love creating their wardrobe. I remember one time my barbies had an entire wardrobe composed of bright yellow fabric. I loved it but my mom wasn't do happy I cut off her nightgown
