An Unsent Message (Enclosing Radiance)

My dear friend,

Do you remember the time when I told you how much I love the rain?

The way clouds form and shade the world with their endless shadow, stretching from one point of view to another. The winds humming in my ears with their soft alluring tunes, slowly transforming into a ballad of ardent yearning and longing. How the sound of the first drops falling from the sky mesmerize me and the scent of earth lingering as they touch the ground. The coolness in the air penetrates into every pore of my skin, traveling to my patiently awaiting lungs as I breathe it in. It is a painting of wonders that constantly lives in my mind.

Today, I see a streak of light shining through the stretch of clouds. It dances ever so gently, touching my world with its sheer luminosity, highlighting every valley and mountain that I still yet to conquer. Places that had remained hidden for a long time, before this very day.

Where did it come from? Where is it traveling to? Questions, and more questions I need to find answers to. But today, I shall be content. I shall stay and marvel at the luminous light that now seems to break into strays of fine golden sparks. Today, I shall be in peace. And leave my world enclosed in their tender caressing radiance.

I hope peace finds you wherever you are, my dear, dear friend.

An embrace,

~ A.K. ~

  1. Your drawing synthesizes what life is, or what life needs: light and water. Like a vegetal. We need light, not only light of the sun, but lighting smiles and a light called love... And we need water to swim in our dreams. I love the way how the hair (hair of light) transforms in water... It's curious, because both (the light and the water) have waves to express their essence. And the girl (it's you?) is also the source and the recipient of the phenomenon...

(Now I am a pest, sorry, Amalia)

  5. I'm sure you'll find the answers to all your questions, dear Amalia! Because you are a part of this magnificent world, of the harmonious nature and you know your place, you have the sense for that. But what is most important - you've seen the light that will reveal new worlds, guide you and protect you.
A peaceful and at the same time mighty piece of art!

  8. Oh, Amalia! She is astonishingly beautiful! The dreamy look in her eyes, the hair that becomes like the clouds, the rays of light that fall upon her hands. Oh MY, oh MY! And your words are ever so poetic, gentle and caressing.

Thank you for the summer breeze, my sweet. I did a load of laundry, and now my sheets are fragrant with the perfume of sunshine. Some people pay extra for that scent in their detergent, you know. And here, I give to you a jar of happy fireflies to dance for you this evening. Enjoy!

    xoxo!

  12. Amalia,
I share your love of the rain too. I especially like tropical rain storms. It is like standing in a warm shower.:)
As always your words and illustration are very beautiful. The ladies flowing locks makes her look like a gentle mermaid, bathed in light.
All of your lady images look like you. Very pretty.:)

Aww, Jo! Honestly, I'm blushing now... To tell you the truth, you're not the first one who'd said that. I have no idea why the women I draw resemble me in some ways.. strange, isn't it? :)

Maria, Krista & Vanilla, thank you so much... that means a lot to me! :)

  18. 100 years old? ahahahah! oh, no, Amalia, everytime you write I feel my soul filling with happiness! I would be lucky to have that age with such a fresh appearance like now... but I'm not, I'm a rhizome, remember? only a little point in the world ... in any way... a rhizome looks like a old woman face... maybe that's way you ask my age?

  19. ah, your post has transformed me, soften me, brought me to this moment. you are gifted with words as you are your pencils. i thank you.

  20. Now I am a bit lost... 212 years old? you are almost so wise as a tree who saw life growing below his leaves...I'm not a little girl, even when my parents call me that :) but also I'm not a adult... not yet! 100 years (thinking about it now, calmly) sounds to be a marvellous age

  28. Do you know what I am thinking? :)
this conversation is a great inspiration (and a great topic) for a drawing...
A tree and a rhizome who are separated by kilometres of distance, but whose roots have been chanced upon here,
It's very interesting and I'm so glad

  37. Amalia, she is stunning. I agree with Amba's first post above...the lights rays, her flowing hair turning into water...gorgeous. I really enjoy reading your posts as much as the illustrations as you are able to draw me in for a very thoughtful pause. It takes a lot to stop my busy-ness around here so it is truly wonderful for me to visit. I see that you are just flowing with gorgeous imagery and words - it is an honor to witness this.

That light is cleansing, as if making a blessing on what is hidden in your hands. You have a wonderful 'grasp' of beauty.

    into AAfrikans for fun :)

Dat die lig reiniging, soos as om 'n seën op die wat verborge is in jou hande. Jy het 'n wonderlike "verstaan" van die skoonheid.

  39. Wow, you are so deep, Monsieur. Have I told you that? Yes, there is in fact something hidden underneath those hands. Not many people noticed, but I see nothing passes by you? :)
