Little Red and The Wolf

Now, who doesn't love Little Red Ring Hood? Other than being such an iconic fairy tale among all ages, I think the story itself is one that should always be taught to children for its undeniable wisdom and morals. It's no surprise that the story could live on through generations until today and especially popular among artists all over the world.

I started working on my new standing paper dolls of Little Red and The Wolf a few days ago after I reread the story online. It was so much fun trying to recreate the characters and I have no doubt that this won't be my last attempt. In fact, I'm thinking of creating a whole forest diorama...if time allows it! Wouldn't that be awesome, though? I remember making a set of dioramas based on Sleeping Beauty in college and I would definitely say that it was one of the most memorable moments of my scholar experience. :)

Anyway, this duet is now available in The Wish Forest, eager to find a new forest of their own. And now on to the next project... which characters do you think should I create next? :)

Lucie the Juggler

Hello there. Are you keeping yourself busy? I have been making some mess in the studio with my cutter and glue this week. Remember the last paper dolls I made of Alice and the White Rabbit? Well, those two were sold a while ago and since then I have had people asking if I were planning on making more. So here she is...

This little precious is Lucie. She's a born juggler and a star of the circus in town. I had in mind to do a drawing of her, but then decided to turn her into a paper doll instead. I really enjoyed designing her costume, especially sewing the tiny coppery beads onto the red felt. Oh, it was so good to put my little beading needle to work again. I think I might create a special series based on this character alone. What do you think? It would be super tricky to fit doll making into my already tight schedule, but I know it would definitely be worth it.

She's now available in my shop. :)

Hugs,

Alice and the White Rabbit

Dear Alice was in for a remarkable adventure, the minute Curiosity twinkled in her spine...

Alice was beginning to get very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank, and of having nothing to do: once or twice she had peeped into the book her sister was reading, but it had no pictures or conversations in it, `and what is the use of a book,' thought Alice `without pictures or conversation?'
So she was considering in her own mind (as well as she could, for the hot day made her feel very sleepy and stupid), whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain would be worth the trouble of getting up and picking the daisies, when suddenly a White Rabbit with pink eyes ran close by her.

There was nothing so very remarkable in that; nor did Alice think it so very much out of the way to hear the Rabbit say to itself, `Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be late!' (when she thought it over afterwards, it occurred to her that she ought to have wondered at this, but at the time it all seemed quite natural).
But when the Rabbit actually took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket, and looked at it, and then hurried on, Alice started to her feet, for it flashed across her mind that she had never before seen a rabbit with either a waistcoat-pocket, or a watch to take out of it, and burning with curiosity, she ran across the field after it, and fortunately was just in time to see it pop down a large rabbit-hole under the hedge.

~ Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Chapter I ~

Well, as you can probably see, I have been revisiting one of my very favorite books lately and getting all sorts of urge to spill the characters back into life. This duo is actually something I created on a very, very hot and boring day (ask Alice how excruciating that is!). But instead of just drawing them on paper, I decided that it would be more interesting to make miniature paper dolls to play theater with! So here they are, and now already happy frolicking in The Wish Forest, going down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland.

Have you read anything inspiring lately? Do tell! :)
